ANNUAL MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE STOGES WORKERS AGAIN
This morning, I got a notification, from Oregon Live (print version: The Oregonian), in regards to the minimum wage increase, in Oregon. We had campaigned, hard, for an increase of the federal, minimum wage. We'd wanted an annual increase of more than 6%, to match our estimated annual rate of inflation. Some loud idiots argued, again, that wage increases, annually, would increase the rate of inflation. Always behind, I asked, again, why the minimum wage, state-by-state, hadn't increased, in years. The answer, I was told, was in military files, viewed by members of Congress. As a civilian voter, I don't have the security clearance to know. The Republicans responded that the mandatory minimum wage would be managed state-by-state, and, should work.
This morning's article reads that Oregon's annual increase will be $0.35. As an advocate for workers' rights, I thought this was a joke. I used my calculator app, to figure a 6% (our aggregate annual rate of inflation) increase, on Oregon's rural region's $14.70, and, the federal minimum wage, $15. Here are the screen shots.
